Common Ground vs Middle Ground

Sometimes I give a simple thing like this a lot of thought.  Too much thought, but there isn't any avoiding it, so I might as well write something about it.

That's how I let go and move on, when I fixate on something.

Language often has a subtle impact on how people think about things.  The most common artifact like this is labels.  I don't like labels much at all, because they are slippery things!  Those who coin the label, often have control over it, or worse, can take control of one, leaving those that use the label making rather useless statements.

They are useless, because core values expressed with labels being fundamental to the expression, are conditional, in that those who can manipulate the labels can manipulate the value statements, thus rendering them useless for productive advocacy, particularly when said advocacy is challenging a status quo.
